10-year-old Adam McCracken enjoyed some time on the playground at Heritage Port on Saturday afternoon. Because he wants other children in the community to enjoy the playground with him, Adam asked for donated cleaning supplies for his birthday to help clean up the playground this spring.
"I would like to thank my friends for donating supplies so kids can have a fun, safe, and clean place to play," Adam says.
Adam's mom, Danielle McCracken, says family and friends came to his party with rubber gloves and Lowe's gift cards instead of toys this year.
"His decision to support this project that's going to benefit other kids in the community really made me feel good," she says. "I think it's a great trend across the country. Lots of kids are doing things like that."
