The
West Virginia Farm Bureau will celebrate Food Check-Out Week Feb. 17-23,
providing Ronald McDonald Houses across the state with thousands of dollars worth
of food and supplies, the bureau recently announced.
In this annual event, bureau members will collect donations
and volunteer to shop at area grocery stores, purchasing meats, non-perishable
foods and paper products to donate to each Ronald McDonald House in West
Virginia, according to the bureau's news release.
These houses are located in Charleston, Huntington and Morgantown and
provide overnight lodging, cooking, bathing and laundry facilities for families
of children undergoing treatment at local hospitals.
The Huntington
shopping event will take place at 10 a.m. Feb. 21
at the Barboursville Kroger. The Charleston event
will take place 10 a.m. Feb. 22
at the Kanawha City Kroger.
Lastly, the Morgantown event
will take place at 10 a.m. Feb. 23
at the Patteson Drive Kroger. Groceries will be delivered to the local Ronald
McDonald House following each shopping event.
Last year, the news release continues, the bureau donated
more than $25,000 in cash and supplies to stock pantries in each Ronald
McDonald House.
