The Charleston Area Alliance announced Feb. 18 the death of former Business and Industrial Development Corporation President Lewis Caldwell Davis.
BIDCO was one of the original organizations that combined to form the Alliance in 2004, and Davis was BIDCO president from 1993-1997.
BIDCO spearheaded several major economic development projects under Davis's watch, including the Southridge Centre along Corridor G.
"The Kanawha Valley continues to benefit from the significant job and business opportunities that resulted from these and other major efforts launched during his tenure as BIDCO president," Charleston Area Alliance President and CEO Matt Ballard said in a prepared statement. "The Alliance's success today can be attributed to the visionary work of leaders such as Mr. Davis."
The Alliance is now made up of more than 600 members representing 40,000 employees.
