Steubenville Woman Allegedly Left Baby in Taxi While She Shopped at Wal Mart

Posted: Updated:

Brittany Richardson, 21, of Steubenville, has been placed behind bars and faces child endangerment charges after she allegedly left her 5-day-old baby in a taxi cab as she shopped inside a Wal Mart.

The cab driver notified police that Richardson left the car without paying and left one of her children in the car.

Richardson claimed that the driver said it was okay to leave her baby in the car and said this isn't the first time she's done this, according to police.

Custody of the children was given to Richardson's mother.

Richardson appeared in Steubenville Municipal Court Thursday morning where Judge Daniel Spahn deferred her sentencing and ordered her to receive counseling from Children Services for at least 30 days. She will appear back in court March 26.
