    Dr. Kyle M. Smith, a fellowship-trained pediatric anesthesiologist, has joined Hoops Family Children’s Hospital, specializing in providing anesthesia care for children undergoing surgery.

Michael Perone has been selected as the associate dean for faculty in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University.

The associate dean for faculty is part of the senior leadership team in the Eberly College and is responsible for a large number of faculty related processes ranging from hiring and mentoring through promotion, sabbatical leave and other aspects of faculty life.

Perone, who began his career at WVU in 1984, is a professor in the Department of Psychology. He earned his Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1981. 

At WVU, he served for 12 years as chairman of the Department of Psychology. He has served as president of Association for Behavioral Analysis International, Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Analysis, Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and the Southeastern Association for Behavioral Analysis International. 

In other news at WVU, Corey Farris has been selected as dean of students, vice president of student affairs. 

Farris is the primary student advocate and serves as a liaison between students, university administrators and community officials. He handles student issues such as discipline, student support and overall guidance.

He also oversees the Office of Student Life, Housing and University Apartments, the Career Services Center, Adventure WV, the Student Recreation Center and Residential Education.

Farris has served as WVU's interim dean of students since the division was reorganized in September 2010.

Farris has been with the university since 1991. From 1991-96, he served as the coordinator for New Student Services and then interim director for New Student Services from 1996-99, at which point he was named the assistant dean of students for Residential Education, a post he held until 2004.

Farris earned a bachelor's degree from WVU in business administration in 1981. Three years later, he graduated with a master's degree in student personnel from Ohio State University.
