New Martinsville Schools Evacuated After Reports of Odor

Magnolia High School and New Martinsville Elementary school have been inspected and are open as usual Wednesday. 

According to Wetzel County Superintendent Joyce Watt, both schools were inspected by the state fire marshal and given the all clear.

Both schools were evacuated Tuesday morning and closed for the rest of the day due to a strong odor. 

According to New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil, the smell was noticed at the Bob Evans restaurant as well. 7 News has a call out to Mountaineer Gas.

WTRF has learned from New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil that Magnolia High School and the New Martinsville Elementary School have been evacuated and will be closed for the rest of the day Tuesday due to a strong odor.

He says it's not clear right now what that smell is or where its coming from.
