Married Couple Arrested After Traffic Stop, $107,000 in Drugs Found

A couple from Kenton, Ohio is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 165 individually wrapped units of heroin, 18 Oxycodone pills and 66 Xanax pills, worth more than $107,000, following a traffic stop Monday near Lima.

Troopers responded to the area after the Lima Post received a call of a possible impaired driver on State Route 309.

Officers then stopped a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis, with Ohio registration, for a left-of-enter violation on State Route 309 near Lima..
 
The driver, Keith M. Whitmore, 54, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. During a search, the trooper located the pills and $650 in cash. The driver's wife, Kelly M. Whitmore, 35, produced the individually wrapped heroin when questioned by troopers.

Both suspects were taken to the Allen County Jail and charged with possession of heroin.

If convicted, the Whitmores could both face up to 8 years in prison and up to a $15,000 fine.
