It's being called a nightmare bacteria and experts say it's quickly spreading in our region.

It's called "CRE," and it's a strain of bacteria that doctors say is resistant to antibiotics.

Researchers say it has been on the radar for years, but doctors have recently noticed an increase in infections, possibly because of over-medication that kills good bacteria along with the bad.

There have been cases in our region recently, but the bug is only being discovered in long-term care facilities and hospitals, where patients already have weakened immune systems.
