"Purple Reign" Martins Ferry Wins District Title

The Martins Ferry Purple Riders won their first district title since 1998 Friday night, with a 56-48 win over Garaway.

Cody Schau and Robert Vargo each scored 16 points to lead the Riders , while Tyler Strama added 15.

Ferry will face Ironton in the regional semifinal, Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at Ohio University.

Ironton beat Zane Trace 69-45.
