After about a decade with the West Virginia Democratic Party, Derek Scarbro has decided to wear a different kind of hat.
Scarbro announced in mid-January that he would leave the party, and a March 12 news release from LGCR Government Solutions LLC outlined his next steps.
Scarbro will start with LGCR March 18. The group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the law firm Lewis, Glasser, Casey, & Rollins. Scarbro will assist the firm with its current clients, according to the news release.
"Derek will be a great addition to our team," Managing Partner Nick Casey said in the news release. "I'm very happy to have the opportunity to work with him again."
Casey is former chairman of the West Virginia Democratic Party.
"I'm excited about this new chapter in my career," Scarbro said in the news release. "I've spent my entire time in government and politics, and I think that LGCR Government Solutions will be a good fit for me."
Scarbro earned his bachelor's degree from Marshall University. He majored in political science and international affairs. Scarbro also has worked with the State Treasurer's Office and the West Virginia Development Office. He and his wife, Sara Payne, live in Charleston.
