NEW YORK, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- C.A. Press, a Spanish-language imprint of Penguin Group (USA), will publish Jenni Rivera: The Incredible Story of a Warrior Butterfly, a biography of the Mexican-American superstar who was tragically killed in a plane crash in Mexico on December 9, 2012 (publication April 24, 2013, ISBN: 978-0147510532). The book is written by Leila Cobo of Billboard Magazine, one of the country's leading experts in Latin music.
"It is an honor to pay tribute to the musical career of Jenni Rivera, an artist I interviewed many times over the last 10 years, and for whom I have deep respect and admiration. I wrote this biography as a journalist and Latin music expert to mark her incredible musical career," said Cobo.
C.A. Press will publish English and Spanish versions in both paperback and e-book format. "When we were searching for someone to write the definitive biography on Jenni Rivera, Leila was at the top of our list," says Carlos Azula, publisher of C.A. Press. "Her vast experience and unique access into the Latin music industry makes her the perfect biographer for this book."
During her lifetime, Rivera rocked the Latin charts and sold an estimated 15 million records. She was the head of an international business empire, with a weekly radio program (Contacto directo con Jenni Rivera), her own reality television show (I Love Jenni, on Mun2/NBC), her own makeup and clothing lines, her own foundation, and a breakout role in a feature film (the critically acclaimed Filly Brown, which opens on April 26, 2013).
The book is also a musical retrospective of Rivera's career, with a complete discography, Billboard charts, and exclusive interviews conducted by Cobo.
About Leila Cobo: Colombian television show host, novelist, pianist and Executive Director of Latin content and programming for Billboard, she is in charge of the brand's coverage of Latin music.
