Four area historic projects have received grants from the State Historic Preservation Office. Marshall County Historical Society received $30,000 to replace the electrical system in the Cockayne Farmstead, the Wheeling Ohio County Convention and visitors bureau will use $19,500 to repair windows at the Capitol Theatre.
Also getting grants were the Second Presbyterian Church for roof repairs and The Cornelia to repair bay windows, both in Wheeling.
"As we begin to commemorate our 150th anniversary of statehood, we are reminded of the importance our historic places," Gov. Tomblin said. "Each project awarded today aims to keep our history alive for future generations and I'm pleased to be able to offer this support."
