COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -

Primary elections in Ohio are just weeks away, and now voters can begin casting their early ballots.

The state allows voters to cast early ballots in person or by mail before Election Day.

The deadline to register is April 8. Voters have until May 4 to request an absentee ballot by mail from their county board of elections.

The state's top election official said Tuesday that voters in 74 counties will decide several local races and 355 local issues.

Those local issues include 116 school issues and a number of local tax levies, bond issues and charter amendments.

Election Day is May 7th.
