The Ohio General Assembly and the Ohio Department of Transportation honored a local fallen soldier on Tuesday.

The family of SSG. Jesse A. Ault invited the community to attend the unveiling of the "Staff Sergeant Jesse Ault Memorial Highway," a portion of Interstate 70 in Belmont County. The unveiling marked the fifth anniversary of the death of Sergeant Ault, who was killed in action on April 9, 2008 in Iraq. The memorial highway designation is the first interstate road naming in the history of Belmont County.

The ceremony began at 1 p.m. at the Exit 208 eastbound entrance ramp in Morristown, Ohio.

A reception followed the ceremony at the James E. Carnes Center at the Belmont County Fairgrounds in St. Clairsville.
