East Liverpool Police Chief Donald Hyatt tells WTRF that the East Liverpool Wal-Mart has been cleared of any danger and the device found at the store was an apparent hoax. All customers and employees were allowed back in the store at around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Police have a person of interest in the case after viewing surveillance footage.
According to a customer service manager, the East Liverpool Wal-Mart was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious device was found in the electronics department. The device was wrapped in a towel, wrapped in duct tape and had Wal-Mart security "spider wraps" around it.
The bomb squad was called and is currently on their way to the scene. Stay with wtrf.com for updates as we receive them.
