The Wintersville man charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a juvenile girl and assaulting a juvenile boy was in court for his preliminary hearing on Monday. Andre Wade is charged with rape, felonious assault and possession of drugs.
The state, however, is asking to drop the felonious assault charge. Assistant Prosecutor Edward Littlejohn Jr. called two Wintersville patrolmen to the stand.
Patrolman Anthony Morris stated that the juvenile girl and her boyfriend were walking through the woods behind Indian Creek High School when Wade allegedly attacked both of them and forced himself on the girl.
He was bound over to the Jefferson County Grand Jury. His bond remains at $250,000.
The Wintersville Police Department is investigating an alleged sexual assault that happened last Friday night.
Wintersville Police Chief Ed Laman confirmed that suspect Andre Wade is in custody for the assault that occurred in the woods behind Indian Creek High School, after school had already been dismissed. He described it as a random act of violence and said the attack is not related to the school.
Laman said the investigation is ongoing. Stay with wtrf.com for updates.
