US Chamber gives Rep. David McKinley Spirit of Enterprise Award

Posted: Updated:

Rep. David McKinley, R-W.Va., was given the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's annual Spirit of Enterprise Award April 16.

This is the 25th year for the award, which is given to members of Congress based on the chamber's key business issues. Members who support the chamber position on at least 70 percent of their votes qualify for the award.

"In the face of high-stakes politics and difficult choices, Congressman McKinley provided America's job creators with a strong voice in Congress," U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas Donahue said in a news release. "This award recognizes Congressman McKinley for consistently demonstrating his support for pro-growth policies."

McKinley received a 100 percent rating with the Chamber, according to its scorecard, and he has a collective 94 percent ranking for his entire tenure in Congress.

The votes the chamber used to score members of Congress this year included reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the establishment of Permanent Normal Trade Relations with Russia and votes to repeal parts of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
