CBS News reports Steubenville High School coach Reno Saccoccia was awarded a two-year contract extension Monday, despite the rape controversy that grabbed the nation's attention.
The decision comes about a month after two of Saccoccia's players, Trent Mays and Ma'lik Richmond, were found guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl during a night of partying last August.
Testimony at the trial raised the possibility that Saccoccia may have known about the incident.
After Mays and Richmond were found guilty and sentenced, Ohio's Attorney General announced he would convene a grand jury to investigate whether other crimes were committed in the aftermath of the rape.
School Superintendent Mike McVey on Tuesday said the extension is protocol, and this administrative contract is different from Saccoccia's football contract.
