The OVAC softball semifinals were played at the I-470 Chambers Complex with two defending champions going back to the title game.

In Class 5A, defending champions John Marshall defeated Morgantown 5-4 for a 20th consecutive win. Senior pitcher Amy Rotriga struck out nine Mohigans, including the final out with the tying run on second base. The Lady Monarchs scored four runs in the first inning.

John Marshall will play Wheeling Park in the 5A final, which is scheduled for Friday night, weather permitting, due to Park's prom on Saturday. Wheeling Park's Carly Greer smacked a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fifth to put the Patriots ahead.

In Class 2A, defending champion Wheeling Central blanked Shadyside 10-0 in six innings.  Ashley Gast smacked a three-run homerun, and Sydney Bennington drilled a two-run bomb to end the game. The Maroon Knights will take on the Cameron/Steubenville Central winner on Saturday.

The 3A semifinal between Bellaire and Shenandoah went extra innings on Ben's Field. Megan Ging's two-out single in the eight inning scored Dallas Messinger with the winning run, touching off a wild celebration. The Big Reds will play Fort Frye in Saturday's championship game. The Lady Cadets blanked River 6-0 to improve to 17-0 on the season. Lexi Huck hit a two-run homerun, and Abbey Baker drilled a three-run shot for Fort Frye.
