Mountain State Fugitive Task Force Captures Weirton Fugitive

WHEELING -

WTRF viewers have helped get a fugitive off the streets. According to U.S. Marshal Chad Simpson, the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force had received overwhelming tips from the first day WTRF profiled Guy Sharkey, Jr. 

Sharkey had left the area and headed to the upstate New York.  After surveillance of a residence in Rensselaer, New York, Sharkey was arrested without incident. 

He is presently in the Rensselaer County Jail, awaiting his return to Hancock County.

Sharkey was wanted on charges of possession of a firearm, wanton endangerment with a firearm, malicious assault and child neglect.

Sharkey's previous convictions include those for rape and sexual assault, burglary and assault.
