It's was an out-of-the-classroom learning experience for a group of John Marshall students on Thursday.
Students traveled to Morgantown to be trained at the West Virginia University Mining extension simulator.
The group last year was one of the first in the state to travel to the simulator. They were to receive some classroom training first, then it was all hands-on this afternoon.
The experience is meant to better prepare students if they decide to make coal mining their career.
