The OVAC crowned it final three baseball champions on Saturday at Steubenville's Vaccaro Field.
Steubenville Central defeated Shadyside 7-3 in the 2A title game to claim a 14th OVAC championship. The Crusaders scored five runs in the first two innings and never looked back. Shadyside scored three runs in the last inning to make it interesting.
The Edison Wildcats secured a rare three-peat, winning the OVAC 5A title with a 3-1 win over Cambridge. Mike Copoly's team also won a 3A title in 2011, and a 4A crown in 2012. Austin Horan and Alec Jones had RBIs for the Wildcats.
The Harrison Central Huskies won the 4A championship with an 11-4 win over Steubenville. Huskies senior pitcher Rasheen Mitchell struck out 12 and also had a pair of RBI, in winning the school's fourth OVAC baseball title. The Huskies used a five-run fourth inning and benefited from a bunch of Big Red errors and wild pitches, to blow it open.
