Hospice of Southern West Virginia will host its 13th annual Palliative Care Conference June 13-14 at the Tamarack Conference Center in Beckley, the organization recently announced.

The two-day conference will host national and local presenters in the fields of medicine, social work, pharmacy and administration, according to the news release.

"We offer continuing education credits for a variety of fields. It is truly unique for our area, and our state," said Josh Jones, public relations director for Hospice of Southern WV.

Hospice is applying for continuing education units from the West Virginia Board of Registered Nurses, West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care, the West Virginia Board of Social Work Examiners, the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling and the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy.

It also is applying for continuing medical education credits from the Raleigh County Medical Society.

Attendees will hear about end-of-life care, ethics, pain management, grief, stress management, team building and the power of humor in the workplace, the news release continued.

The cost of the conference is $100 for both days or $55 for one day. However, attendees can get a discount if they register before May 17.
