Shots were fired in the parking lot of the Northern and Eastern Division Courts in Bellaire to disable a vehicle after a man inside the courtroom ran out and jumped into the vehicle on Thursday.
According to Belmont County authorities, a man in court on unspecified charges ran out of the room when authorities attempted to serve existing warrants on him. He ran out the building and jumped into the passenger seat of a black Fiat with a woman in the driver's seat.
As the car began to pull away, officers surrounded the vehicle and warned the driver to stop. As the car continued forward, an officer with the Eastern Division Court fired two shots at the car's tires, disabling it.
The man exited the vehicle, and as he was being handcuffed, slipped out of his shirt and began to run. He ran across State Route 149 and behind Bellaire Stadium. He was then caught and arrested near a creek.
The man was later identified as Sylvester Walker of Bellaire. The female driver of the car was also arrested, and identified as Nicole Gust of Bellaire.
