Steubenville Father Faces Felonious Assault Charges in Baby's Injuries

A Steubenville man charged with hurting his own child was in court Friday for his preliminary hearing.

James Howard appeared in front of Judge Daniel Spahn. The baby is back in the custody of her mother, but suffered a ripped membrane in the shaking incident.

Howard is facing charges of endangering a child.

A Steubenville man charged with felonious assault faced a Municipal Court judge for his arraignment Friday, May 17.

Authorities said James Howard is accused of shaking his two-year-old daughter and causing injuries.  He also faces a charge of endangering children.  Howard's preliminary hearing is set for Friday, May 24, at 10:00 A.M.

Additionally, a Steubenville woman charged with obstructing official business in this case may receive her sentence next week.  Authorities said Alyssia Milano on Friday asked to change her plea.  Thursday, she pled no contest to the charge.

Steubenville Municipal Court Judge Dan Spahn denied the request ,saying if Milano hires an attorney, he can file a motion to change the plea.

James Howard, the father of a 2-year-old girl who was brought into Trinity West with serious injuries, has been charged with felonious assault and child endangering. The child endangering charge stems from the allegation that Howard failed to render medical assistance to the child.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Steubenville Police are trying to find out what happened to a 2-year-old girl who was brought into Trinity West with serious injuries.

Authorities say the girl had bruises and markings on her body. They also said she had bleeding in her brain and was life-flighted to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

No one has been charged in this case but detectives are investigating.
