It's been years in the making! On Saturday, all of the hard work paid off. The first games were played on the Miracle League Field of the Ohio Valley at the I-470 Complex. The field couldn't have been completed without the help of thousands of donors in the Ohio Valley.
The smiles said it all. Each player took the opportunity to play the game like everyone else. Lorraine McCardle, the founder of the Miracle League of the Ohio Valley told WTRF.com she can't believe it's all come together and she's thrilled with the outcome.
Many organizations had a hand in opening day. Pirates Charities, the Easter Seals, and the J. B. Chambers Organization all played a vital role in providing children and adults the opportunity to develop friendships with their peers and coaches while playing baseball, some for the first time.
Each player teams up with a buddy and takes the field. Everyone is invited to join the team as a player, coach, or volunteer.
