It took nearly four hours and 12 innings, but in the end, Harrison Central outlasted Carrollton 8-7, eliminating the Warriors in the Division II District Semifinal at Vaccaro Field in Steubenville.
After allowing four runs in the he bottom of the first innings, the Huskies calmly rallied for a 5-4 lead thanks to an Austin Kowalski two-run single in the top of the third inning. Harrison Central increased its lead to 6-4 on a Nick Pelegreen RBI single.
But Carrollton scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead to the last inning.
Kowalski, the Huskies second baseman, singled Bryson Porter to third, before coming home with the tying run on a wild pitch. Kowalski would single in the go-ahead run in the top of the 12th inning, scoring catcher Nick Staten.
Senior pitcher Rasheen Mitchell, who came in relief to pitch the final four innings, had a monster 5-5 day at the plate with an RBI. He struck out 10 Warriors in his four innings of work.
The Huskies, now 22-6 on the season, will play top-seed Dover on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Vaccaro Field.
