Magnolia Baseball Eliminates Wheeling Central

The No.1 Magnolia Blue Eagles eliminated Wheeling Central by the score of 3-1 in the Class A Region 1 Semifinal at the Chambers 1-470 Complex.

Magnolia's Chandler drove in all three runs. Junior Zach Wilhoite pitched six-and-two-third innings and picked up the win, with senior Kyle Elliott getting the final two outs for the save.

Wheeling Central struck first on a Derek Yocke RBI single, scoring John McLaughlin in the bottom of the fourth inning.

In the top of the fifth, Sapp reached on an infield single, as Ryan Walton raced home from second to tie the score a 1-1. Sapp drove in two more runs in the top of the seventh with a solid single to right field.

The Blue Eagles, now 29-4 on the season, move one game away from the state tournament. They take on St.Marys on Wednesday in New Martinsville. St.Marys defeated Clay-Battelle 12-2 in five innings.

Wheeling Central finishes the season with a record of 10-20
