Belmont County Sheriff Dispute Headed to Supreme Court

Posted: Updated:

The Ohio Supreme Court will hear a case challenging whether the Belmont County Sheriff should keep his job.

The court ruled in a 6-1 decision to hear Dick Flanagan's lawsuit. Flanagan claims Lucas was not a resident of Ohio from October of 2007 until December 2011.

Sheriff Lucas says tax records as well as the Sheriff's Department's training records tell a completely different story. Both parties now have 20 days to present evidence to the court.
