The massive, Edgar Martin, Beast of the East Classic is celebrating a silver milestone.
One of the largest, four-day, amateur baseball tournament's is blowing out the candles on 25 years of top-notch baseball in the Ohio Valley. The games will be played on fields from all reaches of the Ohio Valley, starting on Thursday morning, July 4, through Sunday, July 7.
The tournament features three age bracket of kids ages 12 through 19.
There will be two player showcases on Wednesday at Patterson Field, now known as David Van Camp Field, in Elm Grove
at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The tournament also features a homerun derby and golden arm contest.
Tournament Co-Director Bo McConnaughy, the former coach of the West Liberty Hilltoppers and a former Baltimore Orioles farmhand, has been in charge of the tournament since day one, and says he never envisioned the tournament would ever be this big and successful.
