The Mingo Junction Fire Department will receive funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.
According to a press release from Ohio's U.S. Senator, Sherrod Brown, this is round 33 of the competitive Fiscal Year 2012 AFG announcements. The Mingo Junction Fire Department received $67,868 in funding.
"Our first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio," said Brown. "These funds ensure that firefighters in Mingo Junction have the resources they need to perform their jobs safely."
The Assistance to Firefighters Grants program helps firefighters and other first responders obtain protective equipment, vehicles, and gear, according to FEMA.
