Another major funding announcement has arrived for the J. B. Chambers Recreation Park in East Wheeling.
On Wednesday, Wheeling Hospital announced they will donate $250,000 to the complex. CEO of Wheeling Hospital, Ron Violi, says since health care is the largest employer in the area, he believes it is their duty to give back to the community.
Mayor McKenzie and Bob Herron says the donation will ensure that East Wheeling has a bright future.
The park is named for the James B. Chambers Memorial Foundation, which donated $750,000 to the project.
The announcement is the second in a series of sponsorship announcements to be made by the city of Wheeling during the summer of 2013. In June, Bordas and Bordas, PLLC and the Roy Chambers Foundation pledged $100,000 toward the park project.
