The Weirton Area Museum & Cultural Center is one of six sites selected to host a traveling exhibit on the role of sports in American culture.
The West Virginia Humanities Council says it is sponsoring a state tour of the new Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit "Hometown Teams" beginning February 2014.
Officials chose museums and cultural and community organizations to host the exhibit and provide public programs about their local sports culture.
The other sites selected are: the Parkersburg Art Center, the Buck Harless Community Center in Gilbert, the Preston County Sports Museum, the Randolph County Community Arts Center, and the Morgantown History Museum.
