84-Year-Old Man Accused of Shooting Two West Virginia Deputies

Residents in the Nicholas County community of Craigsville spent their Sunday praying for the recovery of two deputies shot in the line of duty over the weekend.

Buddy Stapleton and Tommy Allison were responding to a call on Little Trail Road  Saturday when they were shot.

84-year-old John Evans is accused of firing the shots.

Evans was killed by police after hours of trying to get him to surrender peacefully. A nearby restaurant owner says that when she heard the shots, and found out what was happening, her heart sank because several of the deputies are also her customers.
