The man arrested for allegedly hog-tying his wife on Monday morning appeared in court on Tuesday. Paul Clayton is charged with kidnapping and domestic violence.
Clayton was very vocal in court, claiming he had to do it because his wife was threatening to kill herself. He will be back in court on July 16 for a preliminary hearing.
Steubenville Police found a woman lying on her stomach with her hands tied behind her back and her feet tied to her hands Monday morning after a call of a domestic dispute.
Police say that a neighbor called them and reported Paul Clayton was assaulting his wife Lydia. Police say they heard yelling coming from inside of the house. Paul reportedly told police he "did it for her own good." He allegedly used neckties and scrunchies to bind his wife.
He is charged with domestic violence and kidnapping.
