A Charleston law firm has released a smartphone app to help business owners answer their most frequent labor law questions.

Spilman Thomas & Battle PLLC launched its new SuperVision app July 16 for iOS devices. The app, which is free for download in the Apple App Store, has a decision tree format starting with three basic areas: an employee is salaried and asking for overtime; an employee is leaving and the employer must pay final wages and the employee is complaining on social media.

The goal is to save time on basic questions and to encourage business owners to seek legal counsel for more complicated situations, Spilman officials said.

"We are excited to share the latest information on human resources issues and regulations via this new channel," said Eric W. Iskra, chair of Spilman's labor and employment practice group. "This app is a perfect complement to our SuperVision labor and employment symposium series and our quarterly e-newsletter. Finding new ways to deliver additional value to our clients is always front-of-mind at Spilman."
