COLUMBUS,Ohio -

In a strange turn of events, the owner of the Bellaire Bridge has had a criminal contempt hearing date set.

During a three-hour meeting, U.S. District Judge Algenon Marbley found cause to set a Sept. 10 court date for Lee Chaklos.

According to Dan Guida, who represents the City of Benwood, Chaklos misrepresented the fact that he has three liens, totaling $1.5 million, on the bridge. Guida also feels that Chaklos underestimated the value of the scrap from the bridge. Guida believes the bridge itself is worth $1 million, while it will take $2-3 million to tear down.

Marbley may make a referral to the U.S. Attorney. WTRF placed a call to Chaklos but his voicemail box was full.
