Wheeling Park High School senior Carly Greer is well-known for his success on the softball diamond, but not many know that she's an aspiring country music singer/songwriter.
Greer has been to Nashville several times this summer, working on her debut CD and recording a song for an upcoming Relay for Life event.
Greer, an all-state pitcher, helped lead her softball team to the West Virginia Class AAA state championship game this past spring, and also works at Ruttenbuck's Grill in what little spare time she has.
Greer, and her mother Stacy, a fourth-grade teacher at Woodsdale Elementary in Wheeling, have been writing songs and recording music for several years.
In fact, Greer recently recorded "Because I'm in It-The Survivor Song", a tune written by her mother and her battle with breast cancer.
Carly will be perfroming the song at the Relay for Life event at the Wheeling Park lake on Friday, August 9 at 8:00 p.m. The CD single of the song will be available for sale for $5 with all proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society.
