POINT PLEASANT, WV -

The Point Pleasant Post Office is marking a milestone Saturday.

A special celebration is scheduled for 1 p.m. July 27 on Main Street in downtown Point Pleasant to celebrate 100 years since its Post Office was dedicated.

According to the U.S. Postal Service, the Point Pleasant Post Office was first established Feb. 28, 1805, and John Rouch was the first Postmaster. The current building started with a cornerstone laid April 19, 1912. The building was completed at a cost of about $112,500 in 1913.

The event will be sponsored by the Main Street Merchants, and will feature both refreshments and music as well as a temporary Centennial Postal Station.
