Ohio Man Gets Probation for Posting Cop's Photo

Posted: Updated:

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A man who snapped and posted on Facebook a photo identifying an undercover Toledo police officer has been given two years of probation.

The Blade newspaper (http://bit.ly/15J5bJN ) reports that 38-year-old Jason Phillips was found guilty Monday of misdemeanor obstructing official business.

He was sentenced to probation, including 30 days of electronic monitoring, plus 60 hours of community service.

Phillips said he did it as a joke.

He was arrested in January, and an affidavit filed at the time said the act "hampers or impedes that officer in the performance of his duties."

Phillips told the Blade he was in Toledo Municipal Court when he saw the officer walking through a hallway and decided to take the picture with his cellphone and post it online.
