DUI Enforcement 'Blitz' Under Way in Ohio

Posted: Updated:

There's a big end-of-summer push going on right now against drunken driving in Ohio.

The Ohio Highway Patrol calls it an "enforcement blitz" that began Friday and continues through Labor Day. It's part of a national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" crackdown against drunken driving during the final busy weeks of summer vacation.

The effort will include more than 7,000 enforcement hours and more than 900 hours of patrols. In total, 494 people died in drunken driving-related crashes in Ohio in 2012, and drunken drivers are involved in 44 percent of all fatal crashes across Ohio.
