UPDATED: Authorities Investigating Threat at St. Clairsville WalMart

New details are in from Belmont County on Monday, where Sheriff Dave Lucas says no gun was found after an alleged threat at the St. Clairsville Walmart over the weekend.

Authorities say a conversation was overheard and reported to police, who responded immediately. They were able to stop the man after getting a description of him and his car.
After searching the vehicle, no gun was found.

Sheriff Lucas is turning over the information to the prosecutor's office for possible charges.

 


 

ORIGINAL STORY:

According to Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas, a call came into his department Saturday evening, reporting a man was threatening to bring a gun into the WalMart in St. Clairsville. As deputies were responding to the call, the man left the store. 

Authorities were able to get a description of the man and his car. Sheriff Lucas says he was stopped in St. Clairsville a short time after the incident.  Authorities are trying to determine whether or not the man actually had a gun. Lucas expects charges to be filed soon.
