Autopsy Indicates Security Guard's Death May Have Been Accidental

More information comes to light after the mysterious death of a security guard outside Morristown Pharmacy.

The autopsy is over, and one thing seems to be clear.

It shows that 42-year-old Wilbur Kirk Jr. of Barnesville, known to his friends as Chuck, died of a massive head trauma.

But just how the McKeen Security guard got that head trauma is the big question.

Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas says the full autopsy findings won't be back for eight weeks.

But there are some interesting preliminary results.

"The pathologist has told our investigator that the head trauma injury is very consistent with a fall," the sheriff said. "So that's all we have right now. We're going to stay active on it. And we're going to wait until we get the full report."

Kirk was rescued from the pavement outside the pharmacy at 1 a.m. Thursday, after someone saw him lying there and called 911.

He was pronounced dead that same day.

The sheriff says there were many rumors surrounding the case, including that Kirk had been shot or beaten in the middle of a hold-up.

But he says none of it was true.

He says at this point, it appears to have been a tragic accident.
