MARTINS FERRY, Ohio -
WTRF.com has learned from Martins Ferry Mayor, Paul Riethmiller, that a clerk in the city's water department resigned Monday after the regular annual audit of the water department's billing office turned up some major irregularities.
The issue has to do with paperwork, and amounts not tallying right. The investigation has been turned over to the State Auditor's Office, along with all the documents.
Mayor Riethmiller says the amount in question is unknown at this time, and the investigation could take a while, so any arrest would not be immediate.
