Authorities arrested two people on drug charges Thursday night in Hancock County. Weirton police say an undisclosed amount of heroin was seized at a house on Lindberg Way in Weirton, resulting in the arrest of Anthony Polk and Tawnya Metheny.

Polk was arrested for being a fugitive from justice out of Chicago, and Metheny for possession of heroin. The arrest was a joint operation with the Weirton Police Department, West Virginia Drug Task Force and the Jefferson County Drug Task Force.

According to authorities, because Polk is from Chicago, they believe Metheny was housing Polk. Sgt. Steve Falbo of the Weirton Police Department says that both Polk and Metheny have an extensive criminal history with police, including violent crimes.

Weirton police say they want to send a message: if you traffic narcotics, you will get caught.
