Wetzel County Commissioners Warn of Consequences If Ormet Closes

The Public Utilities Commission may rule soon on Ormet's request for a rate reduction in their power agreement with AEP, which Ormet says it has to have to continue operating.

Last week, Wetzel County Commissioners sent a letter to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio saying the financial loss would be devastating if Ormet would close.

The company employs nearly 1,000 people from the area. Commissioners say the estimated loss of jobs and wages would be nearly $50 million.
