Storms on Wednesday evening caused a number of power outages across the Ohio Valley. In Belmont County, all of Bellaire was left without power.
About 3,500 people lost power when a high voltage transmission line was struck by lightning just before 7 p.m. Carmen Pratti-Miller, spokesperson for AEP Ohio, says extensive damage was done to AEP equipment, and extensive repairs were needed.
Miller says crews worked throughout the night. She said the early estimation for a restoration time was around sunrise on Thursday.
Hundreds of people in Ohio and Marshall counties were also without power because of the storm.
