The Martins Ferry Purple Riders held off the Linsly Cadets (2-1) by a score of 28-21.
The Cadets scored first on a long pass from Jameson Murray to Isiah Harvin to make it 7-0 Cadets.
But the Purple Riders scored the next three touchdowns to build a 20-7 halftime lead.
Linsly took advantage of a Riders miscue of a punt, and Chimechi Oparanozie scored on a two-yard touchdown run on the next play to cut the lead to 20-14.
Martins Ferry's Brian Styles added a fourth quarter touchdown, and a two-point conversion to make the score 28-14.
Murray connected with Harvin for an 11-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 28-21, but the Purple Riders ran out the clock to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Oparanozie was held to 68 yards on 16 carries. Murray passed for 152 yards and two TDs.
Martins Ferry's Eric Flowers passed for 183 yards and ran for 94 yards.
The Purple Riders host St.Clairsville (3-0) next Friday night at Purple Rider Stadium.
