The Bellaire Big Reds did not let a steady rain put a damper on Homecoming festivities, as the Big Reds defeated the Edison Wildcats 26-12 at a soggy Nelson Field on Saturday afternoon.
Bellaire junior running back Hunter Westlake ran for 190 yards on 12 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns, including a 95-yard run, which is one yard shy of the school record. Bellaire senior quarterback Spencer Badia completed 13 of 16 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
Edison senior quarterback Nolan Marcus completed 20 of 31 throws for 153 yards and a 52-yard touchdown to Devan Tennant. Marcus also ran for 63 yards and scored a 10-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.
At halftime, Jodi Klempa was named Homecoming Queen.
The Big Reds, now 2-2 on the season, will visit Buckeye Local (0-4) on Friday night.
Edison (2-2) awaits a visit from Union Local (3-1) next Friday night.
