State foresters are recommending anyone who wants to see West Virginia's foliage at its peak head to Dolly Sods, Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley this weekend.

"Dolly Sods is at peak for viewing," Fire Forester John Anderson of the West Virginia Division of Forestry said in a news release. "Foliage is between 70 percent and 90 percent peak, and colors include oranges, reds and yellows.

"The Davis/Thomas/Canaan Valley area is peak or nearing peak; foliage there is very colorful and visitors will certainly enjoy the show while it lasts."

The West Virginia Division of Forestry has been tracking the state's 2013 foliage season at its Facebook page, and will release weekly foliage reports.

Right now, the division reports Cheat Mountain, Snowshoe and the headwaters of the Greenbrier River nearing their peak along with the Silver Lake area of Preston County.

In Pendleton County, the Spruce Knob area is reportedly between 50 percent and 75 percent of its peak with a variety of yellow, orange and red hues.
